Mass on EWTN

As our nation and the world face the crisis surrounding COVID-19, many dioceses have taken the extraordinary measure to cancel the celebration of public Masses and, in some cases, dispense the faithful from their Sunday obligation. I would like to share with you the timely information below so that you can inform the faithful in your diocese where they can access the Daily Mass (both LIVE and at their convenience via video on demand), Lenten specials and other spiritual programs that will bring them comfort.

HOW TO ACCESS LIVE DAILY MASS VIA EWTN

During this time, we wanted to remind you that EWTN broadcasts the Daily Mass LIVE at 5:00am PT from Our Lady of the Angels Chapel on the EWTN campus in Irondale, Alabama. It is re-aired at 9:00 am PT and again at 4:00pm PT. You can watch via TV or online via streaming at ewtn.com/tv/watch-live.

You can also listen to the Mass LIVE on the radio, SIRIUS/XM, or listen online at ewtn.com/radio/listen-live.

If you missed the live stream, the entirety of the Daily Mass can be found on demand at:https://video.ewtn.com/daily-mass/

To watch the Mass in Spanish, we are broadcasting the Mass that the Pope is celebrating every day at 8:00 am PT, and our Mass live from Our Lady of the Angels Chapel on the EWTN campus in Irondale, Alabama at 5:00 am PT at: https://www.ewtn.com/multimedia/live-es.asp

Daily Mass and readings. https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/daily-readings

* Live Virtual Adoration. https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/adoration

* Prayers and devotions. “Pope Francis has granted an indulgence to COVID-19 patients and those who pray for them. EWTN has compiled a list of prayers, especially chosen to comfort you in these times.”

* Education Resources: Catholic children’s videos, resources to learn about the Church, and Holy Scripture online. There are many parents that have had to suddenly become “homeschool parents” for the first time.  Our “Spiritual Resources” page has Educational box that also has the link to children’s programming. https://www.ewtn.com/resources/educational

* Catholic library: “Our Catholic library contains thousands of Church-related documents, derived from a variety of sources, including journals, newspapers and the Vatican website. Whether you’re keeping up with Church matters, or doing your own historical research, you’ll find the EWTN library to be a treasure trove of enlightened reading. It has quickly become the premiere resource for Catholic news, writing and analysis, in both print and audio form.” https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library

3. Please do not forget to support your parish financially.
Go to your parish website to see if your parish has an online giving link.

If you can’t find one you may give to the Diocesan Online Giving Portal – Simply select your Parish, and mention in the ‘Special intentions’ box that it is for your regular tithe.

Here are three important prayers which will be said during Mass (you may wish to download them)

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He  ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the Prophets.

I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament.

I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

 St. Alphonsus Liguori (18th century)

Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle,
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
may God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Saint Rose of Lima,

Pray for us.

Facebook Live Broadcasting, and Basic Facebook page posting TUTORIAL

1.    Please “Like” and “Follow” the Santa Rosa Diocesan page: https://www.facebook.com/DioceseOfSantaRosa/

a.    This is not the ‘official’ means of communicating with the Diocese, but a helpful, secondary way to get the word out.

b.    This way, whenever the Bishop or a Directive from the Chancery comes out and is posted, or if someone goes ‘live’, you will get a notification. (you can always hit the share button on a post, live or otherwise, to send it to all your page ‘followers’. It will show up on their news feed.

2.             If you do not have a personal Facebook profile, create one

3.             If you do not have a “Parish” page create one. Then make a general post, perhaps with some specific information about Masses during the Coronavirus crisis, etc.

4.             Use your other parish media (email list, bulletin, vestibule poster, word of mouth) to encourage people to go to your page and ‘like’ and ‘follow’ your parish page.

5.             To post on your page, go to your personal profile, and click the black ‘’drop-down’ arrow on the top right of your page and click on your parish page to reveal it.

GOING LIVE

6.             Holding your phone in ‘landscape mode’, go live from your page, using your cell phone (fully charged, or plugged in).  click the “Live” camera icon just below your cover photo in the ‘create’ bar. You can also create an event (perhaps when you will go live in the future, or a gathering, or ‘drive through blessing’, etc.)

7.             Select either your front or rear-facing camera by clicking the switch in the upper-right corner. You can shoot in portrait or landscape mode, but the video will always be square.

a.    Have a partner close by who is logged in to Facebook and looking at your parish page to verify that you are in fact, live.

b.    Sometimes the cell data plan, WIFI, or connection may prohibit a clear stream. Moving around the location to find better connectivity may help.

8.             Why is my Facebook Live sideways?

a.    When your viewers click to watch the video, the bars disappear, and the video is super thin. Instead, turn your phone sideways – in landscape mode – to get a widescreen video. … BUT… you MUST turn your phone into landscape mode BEFORE you go live on your iPhone. You can’t start the stream, THEN turn it.

What’s the difference between a profile, Page and group on Facebook?

Profiles

A profile is a place on Facebook where you can share information about yourself, such as your interests, photos, videos, current city and hometown. To see your profile, click or tap your name or profile picture at the top of Facebook.

Pages

You must have a profile to create a Page or help manage one. Pages are places on Facebook where artists, public figures, businesses, brands, organizations and nonprofits can connect with their fans or customers. When someone likes or follows a Page on Facebook, they can start seeing updates from that Page in their News Feed.

To see an example of a Page, see the screenshot below.

Groups

You must have a profile to create a group or help manage one. Groups are a place to communicate about shared interests with certain people. You can create a group for anything — your family reunion, your after-work sports team, your book club — and customize the group’s privacy settings depending on who you want to be able to join and see the group. When you join a group on Facebook, you starting seeing content from that group in your News Feed.

To create a personal Facebook account (profile):

1.             Go to Facebook.com, fill out your first and last name, email, password, birthday, etc. then click the green ‘Sign Up’ button.

How do I edit basic info on my Facebook profile and choose who can see it?

To edit your basic personal info (example: gender, contact info, relationships, work, education):

  1. From your News Feed, click your name in the top left.
  2. Click About below your cover photo.
  3. In the left menu, click the section you’d like to change.
  4. Hover over the information you’d like to edit.
  5. To the right of that section, select Edit.
  6. Use the audience selector to choose who can see this information, then click Save Changes.

You can also: Edit your name. Change your relationship status. Add or edit your email. Add a mobile phone number.

How do I create a Facebook Page?

Pages are for businesses, brands, organizations and public figures to share their stories and connect with people. Like profiles, Pages can be customized with stories, events and more. People who like or follow a Page can get updates in News Feed.

To create a Page:

  1. Go to facebook.com/pages/create.
  2. Click to choose a Page type.
  3. Fill out the required information.
  4. Click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: Anyone can create a Page, but only official representatives can create a Page for an organization, business, brand or public figure.
